How many animals can I add to an Animal Health Certificate?
Up to 5 animals (dog, cat or ferret) can be included in one Animal Health Certificate, as long as they have the same owner.
How long is my Animal Health Certificate valid for?
Up to 4 months from the date you enter the EU, the certificate can then be used for travel within the EU.

What happens at the appointment?
You (as the owner) who is travelling must be present with your pet. The microchip will be scanned, you must sign the Owner Declaration and the Animal Health Certificate will be issued to you. Please let us know prior to the appointment if the owner is not travelling with the animal.
Is my Animal Health Certificate valid for my return journey?
You can use your Animal Health Certificate (AHC) for your return journey, as long as you are returning to the UK from EU countries within 4 months of the AHC being issued.
Do I need to treat my dog for tapeworm?
If you are travelling directly to Ireland, Northern Ireland, Finland, Norway or Malta, your dog needs to be treated for tapeworm. Please note that the treatment needs to be given by a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival in your destination country. This can be done at the appointment with us.

On your return journey from all EU countries, your dog will need tapeworm treatment. This must be administered by a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arriving back into the UK. At the border crossing, you will be asked to show your Animal Health Certificate and proof of tapeworm treatment.

For trips that are less than five days, tapeworm treatment for the return journey is not required.

Can I use my Animal more than once for travel from the UK to the EU?
No, Animal Health Certificates are only valid for a single entry into the EU. You will need to acquire a new Animal Health Certificate each time you want to enter the EU.
Why do I need to get an Animal Health Certificate?
Since Brexit, pet passports issued in Great Britain are no longer valid for travel to the EU or Northern Ireland. It is now a legal requirement for pets to have an Animal Health Certificate issued by an Official Veterinarian.
